Geranium Essential Oil

Species: Pelargonium graveolens
Plant Family: 

Geraniaceae.

Origins: 

Originally native to South Africa, now grown worldwide but especially in the Mediterranean, Russia, Europe and Egypt.

Extraction: 

The oil is steam distilled from the leaves, flowers and flower stalks of the plant. 

Properties: 

Astringent, antidepressant, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, balancing, haemostatic, vulnerary, vermifuge, stimulant, tonic & uplifting. 

Ginger Essential Oil

Species: Zingiber officinale
Plant Family: 

Zingiberaceae.

Origins: 

Comes from India, China and tropical countries such as Jamaica, the West Indies and Nigeria. 

Extraction: 

The essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the root. 

Properties: 

Stimulating, tonic, analgesic, laxative, warming, rubefacient, antispasmodic & stomachic.

Grapefruit Essential Oil

Species: Citrus paradisi
Plant Family: 

Rutaceae.

Origins: 

Comes from Tropical Asia, the West Indies, USA, Israel & Cuba among others. 

Extraction: 

The essential oil is obtained via expression of the peel of the fruit.  

Properties: 

Astringent, depurative, diuretic, stimulant, tonic & uplifiting.

Grapefruit Seed Extract

Species: Citrus grandis
Plant Family: 

Rutaceae.

Origins: 

A hybrid plant first bred in Barbados. 

Extraction: 

The oil is obtained by glycerin extraction from the seeds. 

Properties: 

Antibacterial, antioxidant. 

Ho Wood Essential Oil

Species: Cinnamomum camphora
Plant Family: 

Lauraceae.

Origins: 

Native to areas of China south of the Yangtze river as well as Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. It's now been introduced to many other countries around the world.

Extraction: 

Obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and branches of the tree.

Properties: 

Antiseptic, deodorant, soothing agent, skin conditioner, aphrodisiac, muscle relaxant.

Hop Essential Oil

Species: Humulus lupulus
Plant Family: 

Cannabaceae.

Origins: 

Native to Europe, western Asia and North America. The best hops are generally considered to come from the UK.

Extraction: 

The oil is obtained by steam distillation from the freshly dried membranous cones of the female plants of the Hops. 

Properties: 

Antimicrobial, antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, diuretic, nervine, sedative.

Hyssop Essential Oil

Species: Hyssopus officinalis
Plant Family: 

Lamiaceae.

Origins: 

Native to Southern Europe, The Middle East and the area around the Caspian Sea.

Extraction: 

Obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of the plant.

Properties: 

Anti-rheumatic, astringent, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, cicatrisant, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, febrifuge, hypertensive, nervine, sudorific, stimulant, tonic, vermifuge and vulnerary.

Jasmin Absolute Oil

Species: Jasminum officinale
Plant Family: 

Oleaceae.

Origins: 

Commonly found the world over. There is confusion over where the plant was originally found but it is thought that it's native to central Asia.

Extraction: 

The oil is obtained by solvent extraction from the flowers. 

Properties: 

Antidepressant, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, relaxing, sedative and tonic. 

Juniperberry Essential Oil

Species: Juniperus communis
Plant Family: 

Cupressaceae.

Origins: 

Widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere and also Africa and Central America.

Extraction: 

The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the berries.

Properties: 

Antiseptic, anti-rheumatic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, depurative, diuretic, rubefacient, stimulating, stomachic, sudorific, vulnerary and tonic.

Labdanum Essential Oil

Species: Cistus ladaniferus
Plant Family: 

Cistaceae

Origins: 

Native to the Mediterranean region. 

Extraction: 

The oil is obtained by steam distillation from Labdanum gum.  

Properties: 

Antiseptic, astringent and expectorant.

Lavender Essential Oil

Species: Lavendula Angustifolia
Plant Family: 

Lamiaceae (Labiatae).

Origins: 

Originates from Mediterranean countries and all over Europe including England.

Extraction: 

The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the flower of the plant. 

Properties: 

Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, balancing, cooling, detoxifying, fungicidal, hypotensive, relaxing, sedative & tonic.

 

Lemon Essential Oil

Species: Citrus limon
Plant Family: 

Rutaceae.

Origins: 

Lemon trees are found and cultivated the world over. Originally native to Asia and India, they also grow wild in Mediterranean countries including Spain and Italy. 

Extraction: 

The essential oil is cold pressed from the peel of the fruit. 

Properties: 

Antiseptic, antiviral, detoxifying, depurative, diuretic, fungicidal, haemostatic, hypotensive, stimulant, tonic & uplifting.
