It's Latin name "Symphytum" is derived from the Greek for 'to unite'. K'Eogh in his Irish Herbal (1735) wrote that "it heals all inward wounds and ruptures". Today it is still a very popular herb, as it has been for thousands of years. Amphora's Comfrey Cream contains Allantoin (a cell-proliferant that helps speed repair to damaged tissue), and Rosmarinic Acid (this has significant anti-inflammatory action). Studies have shown that Comfrey cream is also helpful in reducing the pain and immobility caused by painful osteoarthritis. Also good in the treatment of scars and bruises. The use of Comfrey should be restricted to topical use only and for no more than 10 days in a row or 4-6 weeks a year.
