Winter Hair Protection - Natural Hair Loss Prevention.

One of the more surprising effects of a change in season and colder weather can be hair loss. Learn how natural ingredients can help to prevent and slow this distressing problem. 

Each season has its own unique threat to our hair,

often the transition from one to another can be the hardest time. Drastic changes in temperature and the cold, dry weather can even cause hair loss.

Ensure you comb and brush your hair gently (avoid harsh hair brushes with plastic bristles if possible) and try not to tie your hair up too tightly.  

Another important tip is to reduce your stress levels! Stress can play a key factor in hair loss in many cases. Take time for yourself, run a hot bath and try this lovely hair mask.

You’ll need:

Take 25ml of Grapeseed carrier oil

Add 5 drops of Rosemary essential oil (adjust the quantities if needed to suit your hair length. If you increase the amount of Rosemary then you need to increase the amount of Grapeseed accordingly).

Gently massage through your hair (this time pay particular attention to your roots as you want to ensure the oils stimulate the hair follicles on the scalp to promote hair growth and volume).

Grapeseed oil has many benefits for your hair! It is strengthening, moisturising, can help treat dandruff and protect you from hair loss. Grapeseed is rich in anti-oxidants which help it regulate certain hormones which cause hair loss.  It’s a lovely oil to use on your hair as it is lighter than some other oils meaning it won’t leave your hair feeling greasy or weighed down. Plus, it doesn’t have a strong odour and so will blend nicely with any essential oil you wish to add. 

Rosemary essential oil is renowned for being incredibly beneficial to our hair; particularly promoting volume, hair growth and thickness. It’s a great oil to have at hand for many reasons -  even if you don’t have the time to use it in a mask, you can add a few drops to your shampoo and gently massage into your scalp whilst in the shower. 

It’s an excellent oil to use in a morning routine as its aroma is wonderfully stimulating and uplifting - the perfect pick me up on these cold, dark mornings! Just one of the many simple and effective ways you can incorporate aromatherapy into your everyday life.
