With the hazy, lazy summer days behind us, now is a good time to take a look at your skincare routine to prepare for winter and make sure skin is in tip top condition for the colder months.

Looking after skin in the summer is not always a top priority as we soak up the heat of the sun and swim in the salty sea - leaving skin dry and in need of hydration. But, if you can be diligent with your skincare routine now, you will reap rewards as you face winter refreshed and revitalized.

A natural skincare routine using aromatic skincare products not only gives skin a great boost and leaves it looking and feeling radiant but can help lift the spirits too.

Restorative Face Mask -  Over summer skin can easily become congested and pores can get blocked from the regular use on sun creams on skin and the heat and sweat from the warm temperatures. Starting with a skin detox treatment is perfect to help de-clog pores and get your skin looking radiant and hydrated. Rejuvenating natural clay face masks are ideal, especially those containing natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties such as Peppermint Essential Oil, Witch Hazel and Bamboo powder to help sooth and tone lack-luster skin. Try AA Skincare Essential's Mint & Dead Sea Salt Deep Cleansing Clay Face Mask. £7.94 for 100ml

Aromatic Cleanser- By using a nourishing, oil-based cleanser to cleanse your skin will help bring skin back to life by thoroughly removing any traces of make-up and help calm irritated skin. If you can, use an antioxidant-packed cleansing oil to help protect your skin from cell damage caused by exposure to pollution or the sun's rays. Try AA Skincare Essential's Rosemary & Olive Deep Cleansing Oil, rich in skin loving antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. £7.94 for 150ml

Antioxidant-rich Moisturisers- Moisturising is key to prevent skin from drying out during the colder months and to rejuvenate dry skin that's been in the sun too long. Natural ingredients can have fantastic moisturising and hydrating properties as well as contain anti-oxidants to promote cell growth. Creams containing Lavender and Aloe Vera can help to calm skin and sooth irritation while essential oils like Neroli can work to renew, uplift and refresh skin. Try AA Skincare Essentials' Neroli & Aloe Moisturising Face Cream. £7.94 for 50ml.

Hydrating Eye Gel- The Delicate skin around our eyes is very important to look after. Over summer with the long hours of travelling and all night festivals through to dehydration from exposure to sun can cause this sensitive area around your eyes to become dehydrated and puffy. Refreshing eye gels are the perfect pick-me-up for tired eyes, helping to restore and revitalize delicate skin. Anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties will help sooth and cool skin and reduce puffiness. Try AA Skincare Essentials' Seaweed & Aloe Refreshing Eye Gel, which includes natural extracts of Eyebright and Cornflower to sooth and Cucumber to help hydrate and calm skin. £6.94 for 50ml

Dry and irritated skin sooth- An all over body check for dry skin patches and irritated skin as an essential part of your winter MOT. Pay particular attention to inflamed complexions or dry and chapped skin on the feet , elbows and knees. Feed rough skin with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial cream, such as Calendula, combined with natural extracts such as soothing Aloe Vera and Chamomile to calm skin and treat itchiness. Natural moisturisers like Jojoba are also excellent for inflamed skin. For all round body care, try AA Skincare Essentials' Calendula Moisturising Cream. £7.94 for 50ml
