Day 3 – Spring cleaning the bedroom!

Cleaning doesn’t have to be a chore! Incorporating essential oils into your cleaning regime can make the process a whole lot more enjoyable. There are many that contain excellent anti-bacterial properties which make them a great natural alternative to conventional, chemical laden household cleaners.

What’s more, the beautiful aromas can help energize and inspire to keep you going through what can sometimes seem like an endless task!

In this blog, we’ll look at a few ideas on how to use essential oils when tackling the bedroom!

• Homemade linen spray.

To fill your bedroom with the gorgeous scents of spring, you can create a simple three ingredient linen spray! Using natural ingredients; there’s no need to use conventional air fresheners which can be overpowering and toxic. What’s more, using essential oils and floral waters mean you can enjoy the uplifting benefits of their therapeutic properties!

Simply take an empty spray bottle and fill with one part filtered water and one part floral water (we would recommend Rose water or Neroli water as their scents are particularly pleasing!).
Next add 30-40 drops of your favourite essential oil. You can get inventive and create some spring time blends – here are a few to give you some ideas!

20 drops of Bergamot and 10 drops of Geranium
10 drops of Neroli and 20 drops of Mandarin
20 drops of Lavender and 10 drops of Lemongrass

Give the bottle a good shake each time you use it and get spraying to fill the room with fresh, uplifting spring time scents that will make you feel wonderful! If you’ve chosen to use some relaxing scents such as lavender or bergamot, you can give the room a good spritz before bedtime to help you relax and unwind!

• Fragrance your clothes draws with essential oils.

Spring time is a great chance to have a good sort out of your clothes and de-clutter the bedroom. Empty out your draws and wardrobe to dig out the long forgotten warm weather clothes.
Using either cotton balls or a tissue to line your clothes draws, you can enjoy the scent of your favourite essential oil every time you open them! Simply add a few drops to the cotton balls and scatter them around your draws. The aroma of the oils will be subtly absorbed so be sure to choose a scent you really love.

• Fragrance the room whilst hovering.

Make hovering less of a chore by placing 3-4 drops of essential oil on a cotton ball or square of paper and placing it in the bag of you vacuum cleaner. When the hoover is switched on, the air extracted will diffuse the scent of the essential oils, so you can tackle two jobs at once. Citrus oils such as bergamot, lime and lemon can work wonders in this case as they contain effective deodorizing properties which are great if you’re trying to rid the smell of pet odors or other bad smells. What’s more, their uplifting and energizing properties will help you to power through the tedious task of hovering!
